Founder and CEO of the Israeli Heart Association RA (IHA), Israel
Gil Meltzer is the founder and ceo of the Israeli Heart Association (IHA), a non-profit organization, established in order to form a community for the heart and cardiovascular patients in Israel, and provide them and their families with support, reassurance, and up-to-date information regarding health, medical rights, wellbeing and other relevant issues. The other mission of the IHA is to increase public awareness in Israel to heart disease and cardiovascular health, with the aim of reducing morbidity and mortality rates in Israel from heart & cardiovascular diseases.
Gil is a heart & cardiovascular patient himself. Born with a Congenital heart disease (bicuspid aortic valve) which was replaced at 1995 by a mechanical valve, due to SBE followed by CVA. 20 years later On October 2015 during his 2nd open heart surgery, to repair a thoracic aortic aneurism, gil experienced his 2ndCVA which this time left him severely disabled. After 6 months of hard work in rehabilitation center, Gil gained back his walking abilities but not the use of the right hand. Luckily, he is left-handed.
