Associate professor at Hebrew University, Israel
Born in Israel, Dr. Ronen Beeri is a senior cardiac physician at Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem and Director of the Heart Research Center. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Hebrew University School of Medicine and Visiting Lecturer at Harvard Medical School Boston.
Dr. Ronen Beeri research is mainly oriented to understand the mechanisms of myocardial remodeling after a myocardial infarction or with volume overload, such as mitral regurgitation. His group is exploring, based on these mechanisms, potential therapies: up-regulating anti-remodeling pathways using gene-thereapy approaches, activating resident stem cells, and with pharmacological agents.
• Cardiac resident stem cells from the left atrial appendage (LAA)
• Influence of mitral regurgitation on post myocardial infarction remodeling
• Development of closed-chest delivery systems for myocardial gene therapy
